MATTHEW ELY, SENIOR VICE-PRESIDENT, COMMERCIAL & GENERAL COUNSEL

Matthew is Senior Vice-President of Commercial and General Counsel at Wesbild. He is responsible for overseeing all legal, risk and compliance matters and provides strategic legal advice and services on an enterprise-wide basis including all aspects of real estate, financing, litigation, corporate, commercial and employment matters.  

Prior to joining Wesbild, Matthew was Senior Legal Counsel at the Port of Vancouver where his practice encompassed all areas of real estate, leasing, infrastructure development, indigenous consultation, and environmental matters. He was lead counsel for the Port on the acquisition, development, construction and leasing of the container examination facility on Tsawwassen First Nation industrial lands. Prior to that, Matthew practiced commercial real estate law at Blake, Cassels and Graydon LLP and Clark Wilson LLP.  

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Commerce, a Juris Doctor from University of British Columbia and holds a Certified In-House Counsel Canada designation.
